Facilities Technician

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is seeking a skilled facilities technician to share responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the physical plant and all technical needs related to the physical plant. Skills in the performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g., electrical, heating (HVAC), plumbing, carpentry, etc.) is preferred.

General duties include maintenance of the facility and grounds; upkeep such as painting, carpentry, and related building projects; maintenance and repair of plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses; and maintenance and repair of hoses, wiring, and belts in machines and equipment.    

Additional duties include but are not limited to: setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and equipment for Arts Center events; custodial duties as needed; general lawn care; and snow removal to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.

Qualified candidates must have basic mechanical skills, prior experience with hand and power tools, the ability to troubleshoot, work with minimal supervision in a timely manner, and be a self-starter. A valid Wisconsin driver's license and high school diploma is required; advanced training from a vocational school with focus in the mechanical or electrical field is a plus.

Physical requirements involve climbing ladders, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
