Internship Opportunities

SPECIAL EVENTS INTERNSHIP

The intern will work closely with the Special Events staff to plan and execute Arts Center sponsored special events, including the Midsummer Festival of the Arts, summer music series, and exhibition openings. Additionally, the intern plays a prominent role in executing facility rentals including weddings, corporate meetings, and group tours. Specific areas of focus depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to a wide variety of clientele and visitors
  • Assist with planning, setting up, and managing facility rentals and special events
  • Lead beverage service area for weekly summer music series (June 22–August 24) by ordering supplies, setting up, and working alongside staff and volunteers on event nights
  • Organize and order supplies, lead Traveling Treats, help with setup and cleanup, and serve as a floating volunteer for the Midsummer Festival of the Arts (July 15–16)
  • Prepare packets for facility rental inquiries
  • Complete research related to special events and rentals as directed
  • Frequently move supplies weighing up to 40 pounds, including transporting and installing tables, chairs, tents, and signage
  • Frequently work in outdoor weather conditions

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to being a team player
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Access to a car is preferred

Summer 2017 Internship Dates
June 5–August 25, 2017 (may be flexible)
40 hours a week, includes some nights and weekends
