MAKER BREAK is a free community makerspace program that will provide research-based, creative, and professional programming for children and young adults in the Sheboygan Area during breaks in the school calendar. Participants will have opportunities to:

1. Engage in the creative process through facilitated workshops and self-directed making in both professional studios and portable, pop-up spaces.

2. Develop technical skills necessary to create in different forms including fine arts, engineering, media, education, and more, and the habits necessary for critical problem-solving, divergent thinking, and resilience.

3. Join a diverse community of practice with opportunities for long-term leadership development, professional mentorship, and youth venture development.

Programs welcome youth participants from across the Sheboygan area. Breaks in the school calendar have the potential to be stressful due to long periods of unstructured and unsupervised time for students in their homes while adults are working. Students will be able to access MAKER BREAK by walking or taking public transportation to our downtown locations or to our pop-up spaces rotating through neighborhood locations. Locations for MAKER BREAK include IDEAS Academy, The Mosaic School, Elementary School for the Arts & Academics, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Mead Library Imaginarium, Above and Beyond Children’s Museum, public parks, Jake’s Cafe, and more.
