Karen LaMonte

Born in New York, Karen LaMonte lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic, where she attended the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design. Her work has been exhibited internationally at such venues as The State Hermitage Museum (Russia), Glasmuseum Hentrich-Museum Kunstpalast (Germany), Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts, and the Museum of Art and Design. She has received numerous awards, including a Virginia A. Groot Foundation Recognition Award and a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award.
LaMonte works with materials such as glass, ceramic, bronze, iron, paper, and marble. She describes her work as an exploration of absence and presence, memory and ethereality.
