Mary Roettger

Roettger was based in St. Paul, Minnesota and created sculptural forms inspired by nature. Roettger earned her BFA from the University of Minnesota and her MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Her work has been exhibited at Northern Clay Center (MN), Bloomington Art Center (MN), Art Space Jonaisaka (Japan), Roland Dille Center for the Arts (MN), Ceramic Museum (China), and The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, among others.

Roettger has received a McKnight Artist Fellowship for Ceramic Artists and the Individual Artist Award – Honorable Mention from the Central Minnesota Arts Board. Roettger was an artist-in-residence at the Archie Bray Foundation (MT) and the Anderson Ranch Arts Center (CO), and taught ceramics and 3D design at colleges in Minneapolis; Seoul, South Korea; New York City; and Boston. Mary Roettger died in 2017.
