Mark Cowardin

Mark Cowardin visually and rigorously provokes an awareness of reckless self-interested consumption of resources and the destruction of human, animal, and natural life.
Cowardin’s work has been exhibited at Springfield Art Museum (MO), Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University (NC), Gardiner Gallery (OK), Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art (MO), Guangdong Museum (China), Commons Gallery (HI), Greenlease Gallery (MO), Newport Art Museum (RI), and Beth Allison Gallery (MO), among others. Cowardin has received the Mississippi Arts Commission Artist’s Grant and a Kansas Artist Mini Fellowship from Kansas Arts Commission. He has been featured in Art Focus Oklahoma, The Pitch, Kansas City Star, Lawrence Journal World, and Review. Cowardin is an assistant professor at Johnson County Community College. He earned a BFA from University of Kansas and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Arizona.
