Anne Scott Plummer
Arts/Industry: Pottery, 1986
Anne Scott Plummer currently lives and works in Winona, Minnesota. She received her BFA in ceramics at the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA in ceramics at Claremont Graduate University in California, where she studied with internationally known raku artist Paul Soldner. Prior to her formal education in clay, she learned to make pottery in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where Harry Holl was one of her mentors.
During Plummer’s teaching career at Winona State University, she focused on making ceramic sculpture, often abstracted figures. She also created several multimedia installations and the Rochester Riverfront Mural, an eighty-one-foot-long cast concrete relief mural that is part of the floodwall on Minnesota’s Zumbro River.
Plummer has retired from teaching and returned to pottery making. Her studio and gallery, located in downtown Winona, is called Island City Clayspace.
