William Wegman

William Wegman is a key figure in West Coast conceptual art and early video art pioneer known for his enigmatic photographs of his beloved Weimaraners, notably his first dog and longtime collaborator, Man Ray. Wegman holds a BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, and an MFA in painting from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

His work has been exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad including exhibitions at Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Brooklyn Museum; Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC. Wegman has created film and video works for Saturday Night Live and Nickelodeon, and his video segments for Sesame Street have appeared regularly since 1989.

He lives in works in New York and Maine.
