John de Fazio received his BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art, and his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. John has produced an idiosyncratic body of work that blends themes of Pop culture with classic mythologies, recontextualized into meticulously crafted objects of desire. He spent nearly 20 years in New York creating and exhibiting original art while supporting his studio by working in the commercial world of music videos and animation. For the first season of Pee-wee’s Playhouse, he created miniature sets and the 3D animated mutant toys. At MTV headquarters he designed art furniture, murals, and props. His largest commission was a 16-foot-long ceramic conference table encapsulating Beavis and Butthead in a psychedelic landscape under glass. His art has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale and the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, and it is in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
