Classroom teachers of all disciplines and art educators of all backgrounds are invited for a day of engagement and exploration at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
Recharge your creative spirit and your classroom as Milwaukee-based arts educator Kim Abler introduces Learning on Display, a process where students have choice and voice as they curate their own learning through exhibitions. Expand your curriculum to inspire your students’ curiosity and creativity, encourage responsibility and teamwork, and support writing, communication, research, and problem-solving skills.
We will explore the Arts Center’s exhibitions that focus on the theme Work in Progress and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Arts/Industry residency program at the Kohler Co. factory. After a delicious lunch from the CAFÉ, join Arts/Industry artist-in-residence Shae Bishop for an introduction to his practice and a ceramic tile-making demonstration inspired by the local flora.
Teacher Recharge is free for Wisconsin Art Education Association (WAEA) members. Space is limited. Please email Nora James, associate curator of programming and learning, at njames@jmkac.org to register as a WAEA member.
Teacher Recharge is supported by the Kohler Trust for Arts and Education, Ruth Foundation for the Arts, the Frederic Cornell Kohler Charitable Trust, Kohler Foundation, Inc., Sargento Foods Inc. and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.Â
