Lesley Baker explores the resilience and power of nature.
Baker has been an artist-in-residence at The Pottery Workshop (China), Rhode Island School of Design (RI), Limon y Mango Ceramics Studio (Mexico), Rogers Studio Print Residency (Mexico), Urban Clay (CA), and the Archie Bray Foundation (MT), among others. She has received numerous awards and grants, including the Indiana University New Frontiers of Creativity and Scholarship, the Frank Springer Award for Faculty Research, the Herron School of Art and Design Research Award, an IUPUI Greening Grant, and a UC Berkeley Faculty Development Grant, among others. Baker’s work has been exhibited at Gallery 924 (IN), Winter Street Studios (TX), Wug Laku Gallery (IN), Kent State University (OH), Diablo Valley College (CA), Sebastian Ward Gallery (CA) Wayne Art Center (PA), Santa Fe Clay (NM), Garvey Simon Gallery (NY), and Purdue University Fountain Art Gallery (IN), among others. Her work is in the collections of Oakland Museum of California, Kolva Sullivan Collection, Toki Collection, Marissa Rodenmacher Collection, and Alameda County Art Collection, among others.
Baker earned her BED from Texas A&M University and her MFA from Rhode Island School of Design.
