Isabel Castro is a Milwaukee-based community artist and full-time student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Architecture & Urban Planning. Her work is a balance of patterns, organic elements, and depictions of everyday people. Her illustrative style is influenced by the appearance of stained glass through the act of breaking down colors with black outlines. The scale of her artwork ranges from eight by eight inches to eighteen by fifty-four feet. She draws inspiration from her cultural background of being Mexican-American, which feeds into her interest of vibrant colors, bold statements, and storytelling.

She layers all these elements into her community work to provide opportunities to explore these aspects of her work through an array of art media. She values the accessibility to art making and socially engaged art making in her practice. She embraces collaborative work environments that cultivate a sense of belonging and hold space for creative expression.
