William Cravis

William Cravis received his MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and his BFA from the California College of the Arts in Oakland. Cravis has participated in artist residencies at Caldera, the Boston Center for the Arts, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and the Vermont Studio Center. He is Associate Professor of Art at Central Oregon Community College in Bend, OR.
Cravis employs humor in his work to comment on the consequences of consumerism, mass production, and complicity in contemporary culture. He often uses multiples and the process of mold making and slip casting in the creation of his work.
