Cary Esser

Cary Esser is a ceramic artist who works in Kansas City, Missouri. She creates architectural tiles and terra cotta details using the language of architectural ornament to interpret human culture and the natural world.
Her work can be found in the collections of The Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts, Montana; the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri; the Tweed Museum of Art at the University of Minnesota, Duluth; and the Belger Collection, Kansas and Missouri. She exhibits her work with Sherry Leed Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Missouri), and she is featured in publications including Ceramics Monthly and Ceramics: Art and Perception.
Esser received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and her MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. She is currently professor and chair of the Ceramics Department at the Kansas City Art Institute.
