Eric Garcia

Known for mixing critical commentary with historical and cultural themes, Eric J. Garcia always tries to create art that is much more than just aesthetics. Having completed his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with a minor in Chicano Studies from the University of New Mexico, Garcia went on to graduate school at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, from where he received his Masters in Fine Arts.
He has won many awards including the prestigious Jacob Javits Fellowship and has shown in numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico Garcia now lives in Chicago and currently works at the National Museum of Mexican Art. A versatile artist working in an assortment of media, from sculptural installations, to hand-printed posters, to syndicated political cartoons, they all have a common goal of educating and challenging.
