Theaster Gates

From Chicago, Theaster is a sculptor that moves between installation, formal sculpture and performance. He attended Iowa State University for his MFA, and has widely exhibited his work at such venues as the Museum of Contemporary Art, IL, and the Inax Ceramic Museum, in Tokaname, Japan. Theaster used his time at Kohler to create work for an upcoming show, To Speculate Darkly: Myth, Historicity and the Creation of a Black Craft Superhero, at the Milwaukee Art Museum, in April 2010.
