Bob Newton
Bob Newton (Sheboygan, WI) has been a hobby woodworker since high School in Frankfurt Germany. It wasn’t until ten years ago he found his passion in wood turning. His retirement years have been dedicated to turning random boards into beautiful works of art he cleverly calls “Bob’s Wooden Bowls.” To date, he has made over 3,500 bowls none identical to the last. What makes his bowls unique is his ability to combine both domestic and exotic species to create beautiful patterns. He is always on the hunt for the perfect boards whether it be while on a walk in a friend’s forest or surfing online or the local Restore. He feels proud when he applies the first coat of wood finish and the natural subdued hues transform to vibrant mosaics of colors. However, it is the motivation of knowing that others see beauty in his works of art that keeps him covered in wood dust. Since 2012, Bob has been honored to be part of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center Midsummer Festival of the Arts.
