Sarah Peters

Forming figurative objects that are often near-life-size heads and busts, artist Sarah Peters merges ancient, modern, and contemporary references with respect and irreverence in artworks made out of wax, clay, and bronze. Peters is a recipient of awards and residencies from John Michael Kohler Arts Center (WI), New York Foundation for the Arts, Fine Arts Work Center (MA), and Sharpe-Wallentas Studio Program (NY). Her solo and two-person exhibitions include Van Doren Waxter Gallery (NY), Bennington College (VT), Howards Gallery (GA), Halsey McKay Gallery (NY), Eleven Rivington (NY), 4 AM (NY), Asya Geisberg (NY), Edward Winkleman Gallery (NY), and John Davis Gallery (NY).
Group exhibitions include Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (CT), Galerie Eva Presenhuber (NY), Perrotin Gallery (South Korea), and Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park (MI), among others. Her work has been reviewed and featured in publications such as The New York Times, Art in America, Artforum, and Brooklyn Rail. She received her MFA at Virginia Commonwealth University, her BFA from University of Pennsylvania, and received a certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
