Kristin Plucar
Kristin Plucar draws, weaves, writes, and works in clay. She creates layered and detailed works informed by nature, place, personal experience, and spirituality. A Midwest native, her meandering journey has taken her to places as far away as Japan and brought her back again to the Great Lakes region. Her academic study of art began at the University of Minnesota where she focused on ceramics and received her BA. She later moved to the high desert of Southeastern Idaho where she received her MFA from Idaho State University in Pocatello.
Plucar has received numerous grants and awards, including two Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Fellowships. Her work has been shown at the Minnesota Museum of American Art, North Dakota Museum of Art, Northern Clay Center in Minnesota, and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. She has been an artist-in-residence at the St. John’s Pottery (Minnesota), the Wormfarm Institute (Wisconsin), Mino Paper Art Village (Japan), and the Monastery of St. Gertrude (Idaho). She currently resides in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, with her partner, Dan, and their dog, Tima.
