Maryam Rouhi

Maryam Rouhi was born and grew up in Iran where she attended college and earned a BFA in crafts. After a lot of immigration hurdles, she moved to the Village of Kohler working for Kohler Co. Maryam leads mary + hoss studio, a ceramic arts business, featuring her and her husband Hosseinali Saheb Ekhtiari’s ceramic artworks.

Prior to 2023 the couple’s artwork centered around larger installation pieces and 2-D tiles. Today, the couple makes works that they feel would continue to live in peoples’ homes for generations. The feeling the pieces generate while being used as a functional object energizes and excites both artists. Maryam and Hossein are trying to bring fine design and delicacy into everyday lives while being mindful of the planet and the resources it provides us. All of their pieces are handmade and painted or carved in porcelain in their home studio.
