Landa Townsend is an acclaimed environmental artist known for her thought-provoking and immersive artworks that explore the intricate relationship between nature, culture, and humanity. With a deep passion for ecological restoration and a profound understanding of the interconnectivity of ecosystems, Townsend creates captivating installations that invite viewers to contemplate their place within the natural world. Townsend’s career as an artist took off with her major solo project at the Marin County Open Space District in 1997-98, where she presented “Willow Spheres: Creek Restoration,” a collaborative environmental installation at Roy’s Redwoods Open Space Preserve in Marin County, California. This groundbreaking conservation project marked the beginning of her focus on creating art that not only engages viewers aesthetically but also raises awareness about the urgent need for environmental conservation and restoration.

Townsend relocated to Charlotte, Vermont in 2003, where her focus was raising a daughter and honeybees. During this time, she returned to studio work, using the beeswax from her honeybees to create a series of oil and beeswax paintings. “Bricoleur’s Apiary”, 2003-2023.
