Dyani White Hawk
Dyani White Hawk (Sičáŋğu Lakota) creates works that merge the visual language of abstraction with Lakota art forms and speak to themes of identity, visibility, and cross-cultural experiences. White Hawk holds a BFA from Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and an MFA from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Her work has been exhibited at Museum of Contemporary Art Denver; Plains Art Museum, Fargo, North Dakota; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City; Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, Arkansas; and Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami. She attended residencies at Institute of American Indian Arts and Joan Mitchell Center; and received fellowships and awards from Anonymous Was a Woman, American Academy of Arts & Letters, Joan Mitchell Foundation, and McKnight Foundation.
White Hawk lives and works in Minneapolis.
