Past Themes

The Arts Center’s mission is to generate a creative exchange between artists and the public. We look closely at where the Arts Center’s work intersects with the needs and interest of our various constituencies and the work and explorations of artists. We build exhibitions and programming at this intersection using a theme as a chief organizing principle. Using this model, the Arts Center explores timely and relevant ideas in a way that allows multiple perspectives to be heard.

But perhaps above all, utilizing a theme allows experiencing any one exhibition, performance, or program to be impacted by the totality of your visit to the Arts Center. When attending a performance exploring the same idea as the exhibitions you can see right before or right after the show, the experience of both the exhibition and the performance is changed. When walking from gallery to gallery, you carry with you the experiences from one exhibition into the next. Context matters. A theme affords this context and provides an even richer exploration of the arts.
