Current Arts/Industry residents Shae Bishop, Lauren Mabry, Lee Running, and Ger Xiong will share their creative practice, what brought them to Arts/Industry, and what they have been creating during their time in the Kohler Co. factory. This is a great opportunity to engage with Artists from across the country, working in a variety of mediums and subject matter.
After the presentations, guests are welcome to join the artists for light refreshments and creative exchange in the JMKAC CAFE.
About Arts/Industry
More than five hundred artists have benefited from the celebrated Arts/Industry residency program. In 1974, siblings Ruth DeYoung Kohler II and Herbert V. Kohler, Jr. forged a unique connection between the worlds of art and industry with the launch of the Arts/Industry residency program. The program is administered by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) and hosted by Kohler Co., and jointly funded by JMKAC and Kohler Co.
Arts/Industry offers artists the time and space to focus on the creation of new work and a unique location for their studios. Artists-in-residence work at the Kohler Co. factory in the Pottery and/or Foundry. Artists need not have experience with clay or metal, just an interest in materials and the potential for the industrial environment and processes to influence their creative practice.
Arts/Industry Artist Talks is supported by the Kohler Trust for Arts and Education, Ruth Foundation for the Arts, the Frederic Cornell Kohler Charitable Trust, Kohler Foundation, Inc., and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Arts/Industry is a unique collaboration between the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and Kohler Co. This residency program is administered by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and generously hosted and funded by Kohler Co. Additional support for the 50th Anniversary of Arts/Industry is provided by the Mellon Foundation.
