Wayside Days: Community Day at the Art Preserve

Saturday, August 17, 2024
12:00–4:00 p.m.
At the Art Preserve
Free

Spend an afternoon wandering through the captivating displays of artwork and the lush grounds at the Art Preserve, home of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s internationally renowned collection of over thirty-five artist-built environments. Enjoy hands-on art making, live music, and moments with guest artists. The Culinary Art Car will be there for you to purchase food and enjoy a picnic as you relax, stretch, and explore the Art Preserve.

The musicians performing at this event all embrace and invite others into unique exploratory spaces of reverie and restoration.

11:15 a.m. Yoga and Sound Meditation
Join an instructor from Yoga on the Lake in an open space on the third floor of the Art Preserve for a yoga session to unwind, stretch, and get into the flow of JMKAC’s Community Day. The 30-minute yoga session (chair-free) from 11:15–11:45 a.m. will be followed by a sound bath meditation (45–60 mins) with Sevan Cat Ries.

1:00 p.m. Jack Duros and Chris Rosenau
Rosenau and Duros have been friends and enjoyed each other’s playing for a long time, but have never collaborated.  The Wayside Days event at the Art Preserve will be the first time they have collaborated, and they are very much looking forward to it.

2:15 p.m. MATTHÚ
Kevin Matthew Bush, known by the stage name MATTHÚ, is an American musician, producer, and singer-songwriter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Blending layered synthesizers and acoustic guitar and handmade percussion, MATTHÚ takes inspiration from folk, hip hop, and experimental electronic genres.
