We will see photographs by Pao Houa Her, a HMong artist whose work focuses on the longing and desire felt by her community, and their dreams of a homeland. Our hands-on project will involve portraiture—maybe of ourselves, maybe of others. After this session, participants are encouraged to explore other sites around Sheboygan where Her’s work will be on view.
SPARK! is a creative engagement program for people with memory loss and their caregivers. It is free to attend, and the activities differ each month. A session typically begins with a visit to one of the Arts Center’s exhibitions, followed by a hands-on activity or art project in the Social Studio. SPARK! is a safe environment in which people can be themselves and let their imaginations roam freely. All sessions are held at the Arts Center at 608 New York Avenue unless otherwise noted.
SPARK! is supported by Mersberger Financial Group, Inc. and Home Instead.
Additional support come from the Kohler Trust for Arts and Education, the Frederic Cornell Kohler Charitable Trust, Kohler Foundation, Inc., and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
